The person behind clrsrc.
There's no team and no company behind this project - just one chess enthusiast with a love for building things himself. A short look at the road from the first board to a home-grown chess engine.
It all started at around ten years old: someone taught me how to play chess, and I played it with a friend with real enthusiasm - endless games that were less about Elo than about the sheer joy of playing.
Over the years the board faded into the background. It was online chess on Lichess that rekindled the old spark - suddenly there was always an opponent available, and I started playing far more often again. And while playing, a second curiosity grew: how does a computer actually "think" about chess? That fascination with computer chess drew me in step by step - and eventually into this project: a home-grown chess engine with a neural network I trained myself.
How an afternoon experiment turned into a stand-alone engine is told in full on the The Project page.
Fancy a game?
I still enjoy playing and I'm open for games - especially correspondence chess, where you can take your time to think. On Lichess you'll find me under the player name clrsrc. A challenge is always welcome.
